Further Update on the McLaren report and FISA
- The FISA Executive Committee would like to clarify that the two coxswains were considered as not requiring the same level of scrutiny as the rowers, in this very exceptional situation, so the two coxswains were not included in the evaluation of “reliable and adequate international testing”, and are thus still eligible
- The FISA Executive Committee has decided that the circumstances faced by the six eligible rowers are exceptional and have waived the application of Rule 59 (50% change rule) to allow participation of the remaining rowers in a Men’s Four, which Russia had qualified at the 2015 World Rowing Championships and would have been open for entry by any eligible rower.
- The Russian Olympic Committee yesterday entered a Men’s Four with four of the eligible rowers in the following formation: bow – Zaruckiy A., 2 – Kosov A., 3 – Ryabvcev V and Stroke – Morgachev N. thus confirming their entry in this boat for the Rio 2016 Games.
- Australia has confirmed their intention to enter the Women’s eight, Greece has confirmed their intention to enter the Lightweight Men’s Four and Italy has confirmed their intention to enter the Men’s eight and the Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls. All are making the arrangements as quickly as possible including organizing boats for these rowers.
