Great Britain's men's four
Great Britain's Alex Gregory (b), Mohamed Sbihi, George Nash and Andrew Triggs Hodge (s) during the start of the men's four A-final at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

But the reigning World Champions, the Netherlands had the crowd support and the home advantage and they were hoping to give the sold out Bosbaan regatta course something to see. It was not enough.

In the final sprint, the power of the 2013 bronze medallists, the United States, and the power of 2013 silver medallists Australia shone through. James, Gennaro, Rummel and Weil of the United States are the silver medallists with Pragnell, Dunkley-Smith, Turrin and Lloyd taking bronze for Australia.

Gold – TRIGGS HODGE, Andrew (GBR)
It was really tough out there but in the second 1000 we pushed USA and really dominated.

Silver – GENNARO, Michael (USA)
Our goal is to do our own race, get the best time, just to focus on that.

Bronze – DUNKLEY-SMITH, Joshua (AUS)
We had a really good first 100 m. Every detail counts in such fast conditions, we are very happy with this medal.

B-final

Italy got away very quickly with Serbia chasing hard. The Serbian crew missed out on the A-final by less than half a second which made them the favourites for today’s race. But an on-fire Italian crew held off Serbia and a late charge by Germany.
