Mohamed Sbihi, Great Britain, gold
“We had a few things to change between the heats and that race. We had a good start, but the last kilometre we made it a bit more difficult for ourselves than we should have done. So far the boat has slotted together quite well. We will take things forward until the European Championships.”

Vincent Van Der Want, Netherlands, silver
“It was the first race of the year. We still have to build and have a lot to improve. But it’s good to be in the middle of the pack when you still have room to improve. I like to race in the four, I hope I can continue, but nothing is decided yet.”

Jon Carazo Tobar, Spain, bronze
“It was a good race, especially a good start. But we started rowing together last week after the trials. We need more kilometres to get more comfortable. We changed position compared to yesterday and we felt better today. For the moment we will stay in the four for the European championships and then we will see for Lucerne and the World Championships.”

B-Final

Russia’s third crew was the best performer coming through from the repechage and they were the ones that took off the fastest. But there was very little in it. By the middle of the race Russia had earned a small lead with a virtual line of boats forming behind them. Serbia then took the rate up and moved through the field to take on Russia. Russia got to the line first.
