Martin SINKOVIC Interview
Rising Stars – July 2011
A fast five minutes with Croatia’s Martin Sinkovic…
I row because… my older brother Matija first started to row in 1999. I wasn’t doing any sport at the time so I came to row with him. I really like rowing and think I find myself in this sport.
Describe a typical day? A typical day starts at 7am with breakfast. By 8am I am training in the gym. After training, at 1pm I have lunch and sleep. At 5pm I have a second training session in the boat, and by 10pm I’m asleep!
My goal in rowing is… to win an Olympic Gold medal.
A perfect rower is… I don’t think there is a perfect rower or person. I always try to do more and get better, so I think that everyone can get better. Perfection is a dream which we want to be as close to as possible.
In 10 years time I will… hopefully still be rowing and have many good competitions and results.
I get annoyed when… I can’t do what I plan to when I give 100% of myself to it.
My sporting hero is… Every athlete is special in his or her own way and I can’t say who the best of all of them is.
My favourite food is… Octopus, cooked in a special way.
I’m afraid of… injuries
My toughest race was… The final of last year’s World Rowing Cup in Lucerne.
I’m motivated by… Good training and good results.
If I didn’t row, I’d… be a chef. Cooking is my favourite way to relax.
On the erg, I listen to… My coach telling me about my technique. I don’t like to listen to music when I’m training.
I’m happy when… When I am training and racing well.
My nickname is… I don’t have one!
