Adaptive Classification and Coaching Workshop (Asia-Pacific)

Adaptive indoor rower
With the support of FISA, the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association is proud to have had the opportunity to organize the ?Adaptive Classification and Coaching Workshop (Asia-Pacific)? from 24 to 27 February 2006. This workshop, to be followed by another two workshops in Europe and America, was conducted by Dr Vassilis Lykomitros and Mr. Simon Goodey.
Both have been actively involved in the development of adaptive rowing through their involvement in the FISA Adaptive Rowing Commission and development of adaptive rowing in their own countries.
In the four-day workshop, a total of 39 participants from 6 National Federations (China, Japan, Korea, Australia, the United States and Hong Kong, China) took part in the workshop, including physiotherapists, medical doctors and rowing coaches. With the comprehensive coverage of topics in relation to classification guidelines and coaching techniques, the participants were able to have an enhanced understanding of the demands and needs of adaptive rowing development.
More importantly, the workshop served as an excellent platform for the FISA Adaptive Rowing Commission, the National Federations, the classifiers and coaches to exchange and share views on the essential elements to push adaptive rowing development in more countries.
