Lightweight Women’s Single Sculls (LW1x)

Repechage 1
In the first Repechage of the afternoon the two finishers head to Semifinal A/B, third through fifth are relegated to Final C and the remaining finishers are sent to Final D.  After a steady start the Greek sculler Chrysi Biskizi was three seconds off the pace of fast-starting British sculler Hester Goodsell. She sculled through to win her Repechage, while the Swiss sculler Nora Fiechter was second. Missing out on the A and B Semi-finals was Goodsell who faded to third after her blister early pace.

Repechage 2
The second Repechage race was a more straightforward affair, French sculler Benedicte Luzuy started well and maintained a two-second lead over the Cuban sculler Ismaray Marrero Aria at the line. The third finisher, the Great Britain three entry in this event, missed out on the A/B Semifinal after having been in second until the final 750m.

Repechage 1
The progression from the lightweight men’s single sculls Repechage sends the first three through to the A/B Semifinals and the remainder to the C Final. This first Repechage featured the top three scullers well clear of the others by the finish making qualification a formality. The sculler from the Czech Republic Michal Vabrousek won by a margin of one second over the French representative Fabrice Moreau with the athlete from Hong Kong Rolandas Kazlauskas looking quite able in third. The real drama of the race was in the third 500m where the Egyptian sculler fell from second at the 1000m mark to fifth with 500m to go, he will race in Final C.

Repechage 2
In the final race of the lightweight men’s single sculls Repechages the first three achieved the qualification positions early on in the race. The sculler from Poland Pawel Randa won clearly ahead of the Danish sculler Jacob Moeller with Dimitrios Mougios of Greece beating the other Hong Kong representative by over two seconds for the third spot.
