The final selection regatta for Australia’s 2002 national squad starts tomorrow (Thursday) and is scheduled to finish on April 13 at the Penrith Olympic regatta course in New South Wales, Australia.

The selection regatta will be followed next week with the trialling for the Senior A and Under 23 teams in Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport from April 15 to 19 for the women and until April 21 for the men. A speed order trial will end the session prior to the announcement of the selected crews at a meeting on Friday lunch time (women) and Sunday lunch-time (men).

Athletes from the trials have been selected through a series of races, time trials and as well as physiological testing on the rowing ergometer (machine), including the Australian Rowing championships. All results have been tallied since the start of trialling in December and have been compiled to give the rankings for the final selection trials.

The selected crews will race at the World Championships in Seville from September 15 to 22. Decisions on earlier regattas raced in the lead up to the FISA World Rowing Championships will be made at a later date.
