The 2003 World Rowing Coaches Conference will take place in Athens, Greece from 6 to 9 November 2003. Please add these dates to your agenda. FISA’s Competitive Rowing Commission now calls for Expressions of Interest from those who might like to present a paper at the Conference.

FISA is interested in presenters both from the rowing community, from other sports, from sports science and medicine or others interested in sport generally or in other sports, whose presentations will have relevance to rowing.

The topic may cover any aspect of rowing coaching or training, the full range of training and sports science and sports medicine topics generally.  This may include rowing technique, rigging, boats and equipment, biomechanics, training methods, strength and conditioning, programs, sports science -physiology, nutrition, psychology, medicine, drugs doping in sport, sports systems, performance analysis, relevant information technology solutions for sport and rowing, etc.

There are two levels of presentation:

·A major presentation. The presenter will present for 45 minutes, to 1 hour, followed by a question and answers session.

·A supporting presentation. The presenter will present for 20-30 minutes, followed by a question and answers session.

The audience for the Conference consists of performance directors and senior coaches from national rowing federations from around the world, and the presentations should be directed towards this audience.

Presentations will preferably be in English, but presentations in other languages may be accepted if appropriate translation facilities can be organised.

Expressions of Interest should indicate:
(i) whether a major presentation or supporting presentation is proposed
(ii) the subject of the presentation
(iii)-a description of the presentation and any background research or experience in 200 words or less
(iv)-the name, qualifications and experience of the presenter
(v)-contact details of the presenter
(vi)-the language of the presentation.
