A change in venue for the 2005 FISA World Masters Regatta sees the competition move west from Copenhagen, Denmark to Strathclyde in Great Britain. The bid, originally granted to Copenhagen, was re-awarded after environmental issues with dredging of the course meant that Copenhagen had to withdraw their bid.
Strathclyde, near Glasgow in Scotland, has hosted many top rowing events including the 1986 Commonwealth Games and the 1996 World Championships. It will also be the venue for this years national rowing championships of Great Britain.

The FISA Council selected Lake Mercer, Princeton, USA as the 2006 venue. Princeton established itself as an international venue after hosting a regatta of the FISA Rowing World Cup in 2001. Organized by the Princeton International Regatta Association, the organisation’s primary mission is to promote international rowing and they continue to develop their facilities.
The United States national crew team currently train at Lake Mercer.
