Fans Wish Juniors Well on New Email Service
Friends, families and fans of rowers racing at the FISA Junior World Championships in Duisburg, Germany, will have the chance to wish their favourite crews good luck via the official website.
The Juniors opening ceremony took place last night (Monday) but official racing starts tomorrow (Wednesday).
www.wedau-rowing.com has launched a new email feature that gives every crew it's own address for wellwishers to send mail to. Click here to send a mail.
The young rowers were treated to a lively opening ceremony that focused on more than just rowing.
There were displays of waterskiing, jet skiing and canoe rodeo – a sport where canoeists ride waves and are judged on jumps, spins and cartwheels.
A parade of rowing boats carried the national colours of every participating nation and FISA president Denis Oswald declared the championships open to cheers from the rowers.
Organising committee head Werner Konrad said the event was a celebration of "our beautiful sport.
"The youth of the world has come here to be our guest," he said. "And we are willing to give our best to be the host these fantastic athletes deserve."
Team reserves were given the chance to race today in a series of spares races but the championship action starts tomorrow at 10:00 CET
Worldrowing.com will feature news, with www.wedau-rowing.com providing regular results updates.
