The International Rowing Federation (FISA) has announced the five rowers that have been selected as finalists for the 2002 Thomas Keller Medal for an "outstanding career in rowing".

The nominees are:

Peter ANTONIE of AustraliaMartin CROSS of Great Britain
Nick GREEN of Australia
Marnie McBEAN of Canada
Jean-Christophe ROLLAND of France

The winner of the 2002 award will be announced after the FISA annual Congress that will be held in Seville, Spain on September 14. The 18-carat gold medal will be presented to the winning athlete on September 21, during the 2002 World Rowing Championships also in Seville.

The Thomas Keller Medal has been established as the highest honour in the sport of rowing and is presented to recognise an outstanding rowing career as well as exemplary sportsmanship. Named after the late President of FISA, the 2001 medal went to Great Britain's Sir Steve Redgrave.
