FISA Joint Commission Meetings Begin in Madrid
Opening session of the 2003 FISA joint commission meeting
The members of the 13 FISA specialist commissions, as well the FISA Executive Board met in Madrid, Spain this morning for the start of their two-day annual joint commissions meeting.
The session was opened with words of welcome addressed to FISA by Madrid Council Delegate for Culture, Education, Youth and Sport, Fernando Martinez Vidal. FISA President Denis Oswald then took the floor to deliver an update on issues such as the recent endorsement of the WADA anti-doping code and the current situation of the rowing course in Athens.
The 70 FISA family members travelled from 25 countries for the meeting that is the only one of the year to reunite all commission members. The agenda is busy over the two days as each of the specialist commissions is scheduled to meet with every other commission as well as with the FISA Executive Board.
