FISA also released the summary of testing from 1993 to 2005. The total number of tests during 2005 (3’098) is a record result for the sport of rowing and shows the further commitment of FISA, WADA and the national anti-doping organisations to find the cheaters. It should be pointed out that the out of competition testing has become much more focussed and targeted in the past two years, particularly as WADA has increased its staff and efficiency. This was also the case at the Olympic level as well where the number of tests conducted increased, they were more and more targeted and, consequently, the resulting number of positive results increased.
