French Lightweights Up For More
The French lightweight men's eight are delighted with their win at the FISA World Championships finals yesterday (Saturday) but for half the crew the work has only just begun.
The Olympic champion lightweight men's coxless four have doubled up at the championships and they're looking to repeat Saturday's eights performance on Sunday in the four.
Stroke Xavier Dorfman summed up the feelings of his team.
"Its one part of a dream but we still have a final tomorrow," he said.
"We are very motivated. We want to finish well tomorrow but we have completed one half of the contract. It's not over yet."
"We're on top form and there's one more race and it will be the best I think."
The French were pushed hard in the eight by Denmark, their main rivals in the lightweight four.
"We didn't expect them to be so strong," Dorfman said. "They started fast. They had a magnificent race."
Bowman Jean Baptist Dupy is one of the rowers who can just enjoy the eights moment. He's not in the four and said the race was over so quickly.
"It happens so fast, there's no time to think about it," he said. "You give it everything you can and then, all of a sudden, you're there."
The lightweight men's coxless four starts at 15:15 CET. More details of Saturday's racing is available in News.
