Junior Coaches Conference Begins in Cyprus
The 6th annual FISA Junior Coaches conference takes place this week in Cyprus from Wednesday 18 October to Sunday 21 October
The course will focus on all the aspects of preparing for a Junior World Championships from selection, to training to what to expect at the event itself.
Experts will speak on training, nutrition, organisation and the differences between training boys and girls.
Speakers include Rowing Australia coach education director Barbara Fenner, California State University athletic director Debbie De Angelis, Danish junior rowing co-ordinator Henrik Norlund and sports and rehabilitation medicine experts Jan Bourgois of Belgium and Jurgen Steinacker of Germany,
Participants will also be given the chance to learn from and work with each other through group discussions and workshops.
The venue of the conference changes every year to encourage club coaches in the region to take advantage of the expertise on offer. Last year the conference was hosted by the city of Amposta, Spain and was attended by 70 delegates.
