Lithuania elects rowing's Raslanas

Algirdas Raslanas
FISA’s chair of the youth commission, Algirdas Raslanas has been unanimously elected as vice-president of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee.
The extraordinary general assembly of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LNOC) was held in Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital on 27 January 2006. The LNOC has three vice-presidents.
Raslanas already has a distinguished career. He has a PhD in social sciences and over 83 published scientific articles ? in the last five years alone ? with an emphasis on the management of high level athletes’ training.
Last year Raslanas was awarded the Cross of Officer for Merits to Lithuania.
Raslanas is still actively involved in rowing as the vice-president of the Lithuanian Rowing Federation and is a former rower being a many-times Lithuanian champion and also gaining a fourth place in the men’s quad at the former Soviet Union Championships.
Raslanas has been the chair of FISA’s youth commission since 2002.
