Masters rowing live on the net
The 2009 World Rowing Masters Regatta starts today in Vienna, Austria with record entries of over 3,000 athletes and for the first time racing will be on the internet.
The Viennese organising committee will film all races on 4 and 5 September from 8am until 7pm. These can be found on:

This year’s World Rowing Masters Regatta is being raced on the New Danube in Vienna. The races are 1000m and a new race will start every three minutes to enable the regatta to complete the huge number of athletes.
Competitors must be 27 years or older and the oldest participant this year is 91 years old. Some athletes may find themselves lining up against three-time Olympic Champion, Finland’s Pertti Karppinen. Karppinen won the men’s single three Olympics. There are also mixed generations racing. Austrian Dr Raimund Haberl, 60, will row in a double with his son, Rainer. These two will also join in a quad with Raimund’s wife Hedi and daughter Veronika.
