New Dates For 2002 World Cup
There will be a new look to the World Cup calendar in 2002.
FISA Executive Director Matt Smith announced the planned dates today following extensive consultation with national coaches, regatta organisers and television.
The new dates are based around weekends, with the exact race days and timetables of competitions still to be decided.
The venues and weekends are:
Princeton, USA, May 10-11
Hazewinkel, Belgium, June 15-16
Lucerne, Switzerland, July 13-14
Munich, Germany, August 3-4
The Princeton date had been moved forward by two weekends to take it closer to the other three regattas.
The three European regattas are later in the year than in 2001 and there is a longer interval between each regatta. This means that the final regatta is timed for six weeks before the World Championships which take place in Seville, Spain in September.
