FISA, the International Rowing Federation, has signed a new partnership with Club Lombardia, an Italian Foundation based in Italy’s largest and economically, most powerful region. With this agreement Club Lombardia becomes a major sponsor of the 2003 FISA World Rowing Championships to be held in Milan, Italy from 24 to 31 August 2003

“The Lombardia region of Italy wanted to promote its name, image and capital city of Milan to a worldwide audience – which is something that the World Rowing Championships can certainly deliver ” said Matt Smith, Executive Director of the International Rowing Federation. “This is a significant relationship and we are pleased to join our regional hosts for the best promotion of the 2003 Championships.”


Club Lombardia’s General Manager, Maurizio Gandolfi said that "Club Lombardia has been created with the objective of bringing together Lombardia-based companies which, as members, will help Lombardia in its worldwide communication and national development programme. This sponsorship of the World Rowing Championships will focus attention on our region's beautiful lakes, tourism and watersport facilities".

Club Lombardia, and two of its “member” companies will be sponsors and benefit from certain advertising, promotional and sponsorship opportunities in connection with the Championships.The 2003 World Rowing Championships will be broadcast to a worldwide television audience. The Italian television station RAI will serve as the host broadcaster, following the races with 16 cameras and providing an international signal of all semi-finals and finals.
