Pan Am Games Regatta Technical Installations Advancing

Significant progress is being made with the construction of the regatta installations for the 2003 Pan Am Games rowing regatta in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The last several weeks at Rincon Lake have seen tremendous progress.
The project is directed by the Organizing Committee of the XIV Pan American Games and the Ministry for Public Works in the Dominican Republic. The laying of the course itself has been coordinated by the President of the Cuban Rowing Federation Norge Marrero who has been working tirelessly to insure that the venue is ready at the end of May. The regatta for the 2003 Pan American Games will take place from the 4-10 August 2003 at Rincon Lake.
Federations scheduled to compete in the event are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia,

Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and the United States. The regatta will have events in LW1X, M1X, W1X, M2-, W2X, LW2X, LM2X, M2X, LM4-, M4-, M4X, LW4X, LM4X and M8+.
Ricardo Ibarra, the FISA Development Director for Latin America is very impressed with the work that has been going on in Santo Domingo on his visit last week and has been making regular reports to FISA on the progress. Eduardo Palomo, the FISA Continental Representative for the region, is also very thankful for the rapid progress.
