The International Rowing Federation (FISA) today received a response from Leonid Tyagachev, President of the Russian Olympic Committee and Vyatcheslav Fetisov, Head of the Federal Agency on Physical Education and Sport (Rossport) to last week’s letter to the Russian Rowing Federation.

“Taking into consideration the role the Russian Rowing Federation and its officials played in these cases and the points, mentioned in FISA press release of January 29th (the lack of cooperation, refusal to accept responsibility, unsatisfactory explanations), Russian Olympic Committee and Rossport by common consent adopted a decision to establish an Organizing Committee which will prepare the Extraordinary Electing Conference of the Russian Rowing Federation. A number of well known Russian rowers, coaches, sports administrators and politicians agreed to participate in this work as members of the Committee while Mr. Leonid Drachevsky, famous Soviet rower, merited coach of the USSR, former Vice President of FISA, a public and state figure, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, will chair it.”
