South Asian Federation Games are Cancelled
The South Asian Federation Games planned for October in Islamabad, Pakistan have been cancelled following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. The organisers said that they are now likely to be held in February or March 2002.
This is the first time that rowing would have been contested in these Games. The Pakistan Rowing Federation has made great progress in rowing, qualifying rowers for the Sydney Olympic Games plus the fact that there is an excellent lake for rowing just five minutes from the centre of Islamabad.
The games were due to be held 6th to 15th October and involve Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
