Silverskiff winners Karsten and Tufte

The home of next year's winter Olympics, Turin, Italy was inundated with single scullers over the weekend for the annual Silverskiff regatta. Amongst the 284 participants Olympic Champion Olaf Tufte of Norway finished the 11km course in the fastest time. Tufte started in position 123 and worked his way through the field to end just 26 seconds shy of the course record (set by Andre Willms of Germany in 2003).

First to start, last years Silverskiff winner and Olympic silver medallist Jueri Jaanson of Estonia could only manage 18th. Instead Sweden's Lassi Karonen made it a Scandinavian double header by finishing second.
Holding the flag for Italy, Leonardo Pettinari led the way crossing the line in third and just five seconds ahead of his former lightweight doubles partner, Elia Luini.
