The Americans are planning to turn up in great numbers to cheer on their rowers at this year’s World Rowing Championships to be held in Seville, Spain in September.

The Seville Organising Committee announced that USRowing has booked 150 tickets for the “Championships Club” section of the grandstands that will be erected along the Guadalquivir river in the centre of the Andalusian capital for the event.

The “Championships Club” tickets include entrance to the Club stands for the nine days of racing, a place at the opening ceremony, the official programme as well as a souvenir t-shirt and pin. Also included in the package are free beverages and a results distribution system.

The tickets have been selling well and the Seville Organising Committee is fearing that it might have to enlarge this area of the seating in order to meet demand.

In addition to the “Club” area, 500 seats will be reserved for the event officials and the media and an additional 1000 will be for sale in a separate grandstand.

The US rowing team is expected to enter about 60 athletes for the 2002 Championships.
