The 2002 international rowing season kicks off in February with the 8th FISA Team Cup regatta held on the Guadalquivir river in the heart of Seville, Spain. Crews will be eager to test the waters after the winter training session as well as get a feel for the course in the Andalusian capital which is also hosting this year’s World Rowing Championships.
The first leg of the exciting three-part Zurich Rowing World Cup series will be held in Hazewinkel, Belgium from June 14 to 16. Four weeks later the scenic and athlete-favourite Rotsee lake in Lucerne, Switzerland will host the second of the series from July 12 to 14.
The World Cup final, as well as the last international regatta to be held before the 2002 World Championships, will take place on the Olympic rowing course in Munich, Germany from August 1 to 3.
All eyes will then turn to Seville for the season climax, the 2002 FISA World Rowing Championships presented by Zurich. The rowing elite will meet from September 15 to 22 in the sunny Spanish city to battle it out for the coveted title of 2002 world rowing champion. The event will be widely televised and we will post a detailed list of stations and schedules later in the year.
