The picturesque Dorney Lake.

Great Britain’s Dorney Lake at Eton continues to gear up for this year’s World Rowing Championships with the first group of tickets going on sale today.

The event takes place from 20 ? 27 August 2006 and is running high on the success of last year’s Eton World Cup as well as the enthusiasm currently surrounding rowing in Great Britain spurred by the world champion success of the women’s quad and men’s four in 2005.

First tickets to go on sale are the eight day passes for £85.00 with the daily tickets available from March.

The British Rowing News press release notes; ?Grandstand access on the two finals days is likely to be limited to season ticket holders although daily tickets for the Enclosure will be available on the Saturday and Sunday at a cost of £12.00 if pre-booked or £15.00 if purchased on the day.?

?Daily tickets with grandstand access for the first six days of competition range from £10.00 – £20.00 if pre-booked and £15.00 – £25.00 if purchased on the day.  Tickets for the Enclosure are available free of charge for under 16s on the first four days of the event and for £5.00 on the final four days.?

Sir Steve Redgrave CBE, who is Honorary President of the World Rowing Championships 2006, said: ?The success of last year’s World Cup at Dorney proved just how popular rowing has become in Britain and the only way to be sure of getting a grandstand seat for this year’s finals is to book early.?
