2008 Final Olympic Qualification Regatta to be held in Poznan (POL) instead of Lucerne (SUI)
FISA, the International Rowing Federation, today announced that next year’s final Olympic qualification regatta and Final Rowing World Cup regatta has been moved to take place in Poznan, Poland instead of Lucerne, Switzerland. The second Rowing World Cup regatta will now take place in Lucerne.
The change is due to clashes with other events taking place in the local and national calendars in both locations.
The 2008 Rowing World Cup programme has therefore been confirmed as follows:
- Rowing World Cup I – 9 to 11 May 2008 – Munich, Germany – NO CHANGE
- Rowing World Cup II – 30 May to 1 June 2008 – Lucerne, Switzerland
- Final Olympic Qualification Regatta: 15 to 18 June 2008 – Poznan, Poland
- Rowing World Cup III – 20 to 22 June 2008 – Poznan, Poland
The other regattas of the 2008 season remain unchanged:
- World Rowing Under 23 Championships – 16-20 July 2008 – Brandenburg, Germany
- World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships – 22-27 July – Linz, Austria
- Olympic Games Regatta – 9-17 August – Beijing, China
- Paralympic Games Regatta – 9-11 September – Beijing, China
- European Rowing Championships – 19-21 September – Schinias/Marathon, Greece
