Amsterdam is looking forward to welcoming the best rowers in the world and their fans during the summer of 2014. Amsterdam is the cultural and business centre of the Netherlands, but the city also has an impressive sporting record. Amsterdam hosted the 1928 Olympics as well as recent major sporting events such as the 2010 Giro d' Italia and the final of the 2013 UEFA Cup. The European Athletics Championships will take place in Amsterdam in 2016.
