Rowing in Lithuania
There is a long tradition of rowing in Lithuania. Rowing was first practiced in Klaipeda in 1885 which then spread to other parts of the country. In Trakai rowing competitions have been organised on a yearly basis since 1928. In 1962 the Ambers Oars Regatta was organized after the Vilnius men’s eight won in a USA regatta and wanted to attract the attention of rowers from all over the world. The Lithuania Rowing Federation joined FISA in 1991.
