About Nanjing
Nanjing is one of China’s most important commercial, cultural, and industrial centers. The city has a history spanning nearly 2,500 years, and in recent years has seen rapid development. Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province. The city’s name means “Southern Capital” and is located in the lower Yangtze River Delta. The population of China is 1,336,718,015 (July 2011 est.) of which approximately 6.2 million live in Nanjing.
