The San Sebastian Concha Cup is held in San Sebastian in the Basque region of Spain. It begins at 12 noon on the first and second Sunday in September of each year.

 

This traditional event dates back to 1879, when boats known as drifters, weighing over 300 kg were used to race.

 

Today, it is the biggest sporting event in the Basque Country, attracting over 100,000 spectators annually.
