Lightweight Women's Single Sculls (BLW1x) – Finals
Behind Paulis, Nikolaidou hung on to second with Eveline Peleman of Belgium following in third. But today’s race was all about Paulis. At the line Paulis had clocked a very healthy 7:37, just seven seconds outside of the under-23 World Best Time. Paulis will be seen again in August at the World Rowing Championships.
Results: NED, GRE, BEL, NZL, CYP, GBR
Gold – PAULIS, Ilse (NED)
It is quite common for my teammates to jump in and swim towards us. It is bizzare [winning].
Silver – NIKOLAIDOU, Aikaterina (GRE)
It was a good race for me I think my technical mistakes were better and I give my best in this regatta and I have enjoyed Italy.
Bronze – PELEMAN, Eveline (BEL)
I feel amazing. I worked really hard for this, I have been working the whole year to arrive here.
B-Finals
Japan’s Maki Noda had a fabulous heat three days ago to go directly to the semifinals. But the semis were not so kind for Noda who is at her first international event. Today Noda made the best of the B-final and raced at the front of the field with France and Denmark chasing hard. Julie Marechal of France then did a big push and moved clean away, crossing the line in 7:52 and easily in front.
Results: FRA, DEN, JPN, LTU, GER, AUT
