Lightweight Men's Pair (LM2-) - Final

In the final sprint the Swiss were rating 35 to stay in front with Scrimgeour and Clegg trying to catch France’s Augustin Mouterde and Thomas Baroukh who had come through to second. The finish order had been set with Niepmann and Tramer crossing the finish line to earn a new World Best Time. At 6:22.91, Niepmann and Tramer broke a time set back in 1994 by Ireland.

Gold – TRAMER, Lucas (SUI)
We were just moving during the race. We got not lactic acid in the legs. We came back at 1000m, did a burst and we were one length in front.

Silver – BAROUKH, Thomas (FRA)
We knew it was a medal but didn’t know what colour it was.

Bronze – SCRIMGEOUR, Sam (GBR)
We have had a good season, things have come together for the World Championships.

B-final

Just a couple of seconds outside of the World Best Time, China’s Zhenwei Hou and Fangbing Zhang overtook Austria to take the lead. Once in the lead Hou and Zhang remained under pressure and thus kept their stroke rate high right to the finish. Bulgaria came through in second.
