Podium of the lightweight men's quadruple sculls
Silver medallists Germany, gold medallists Greece and bronze medallists China during the medal ceremony of the lightweight men's quadruple sculls at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Greece remained in front through the middle of the race with Denmark, China, Italy and Germany all moving together. This boat class has been owned by Italy for most of its life, but last year Italy finished third. What could they do today?

Germany then managed to break away just a little bit. Greece, however, had now built up quite a bit of padding between them and the rest of the field. Germany upped their stroke rate to try and close on the Greeks. Coached by Gianni Postiglione, Greece looked in fine form as they crossed the line in first setting a new World Best Time. Germany crossed in second at a 40 stroke rate with China taking third. Italy was out of the medals. The new World Best Time was 5:42.75 and was nearly seven seconds faster than the time set in 2009 by the Italians.

B-final

The United States looked in control as they sculled their way at the head of the field. By the middle of the race, Lafferty, Schmidt, Neils and Georgeson of the United States remained ahead with Mexico racing consistently on second. The order did not change at the front, but behind them Uruguay got the better of Brazil after the Brazilians suffered a boat stopping crab.
