Women's Pair (W2-) - Final
Then the British took the stroke rate up just a pip and turned this race into one for silver. Meanwhile the New Zealand crew had gone to a 39 stroke rate to try and get ahead of the United States who sat in third. Coming into the final sprint the Romanians had run out of steam with New Zealand (Rebecca Scown and Louise Trappitt) and the United States (Megan Kalmoe and Kerry Simmonds) now going for the lesser medals. Glover and Stanning crossed the line in first and set a new World Best Time. Breaking the 2002 time by three seconds, the new time is 6:50.61.
