Lightweight Men’s Four (LM4-) – Final

Much to everyone’s surprise New Zealand had the lead at the half way point. But then Denmark took up their stroke rate and grabbed the lead. Morten Joergensen, Jacob Barsoe, Jacob Larsen and Kasper Winther of Denmark were back at the head of the field after sitting in second thorugh the World Cup season. Meanwhile Bond was having the race of his short career with the lightweight four. He was helping to hold off Olympic silver medallists, Great Britain. At the line the great Danes had successfully defended their 2013 title, a very happy New Zealand had taken silver and Great Britain had held off a flying French crew to take bronze.

Gold – JOERGENSEN, Morten (DEN)
We planned to peak in 2016, this year we had to work 30hrs a week but from next year we will train more.

Silver – RAPLEY, Curtis (NZL)
I am very pleased, we handled the conditions well and we executed the race well.

Bronze – ALDRED, Mark (GBR)
We were all guns blazing, we did a lot in the middle, we showed some guts to hold it.

B-final

China finished sixth at the World Rowing Cup in Aiguebelette indicating their potential. They, however, finished fourth in the semifinal but there was little in it between the entire field. Then China, Germany and the United States broke away a little. Coming through to the finish China maintained the lead looking very professional at the head of the field.
