Men’s Eight – Final
Hats off to Poland. They were chasing hard and were currently up with the Germans. The ratings were rising. Great Britain had the highest stroke rate. This was grim determination. Great Britain had successfully defended their 2013 title. Germany took silver and a very happy Poland had the bronze.

Gold – HILL, Phelan (GBR)
At 1000m I said “this is our race this is our moment”.
Silver – KUFFNER, Andreas (GER)
We are really disappointed, there was a strange wind out there and we had to steer a lot.
Bronze – JUSZCZAK, Piotr (POL)
I feel very good, in the last 500m we did not have as much energy as the others but it was amazing.
B-final
Australia gave it their all at the start to take an early lead with the Netherlands right on top of them. Going through the middle of the race Australia could not shake off the Dutch with China also very much on the pace. Then the Chinese started to slip back as Australia and the Netherlands charged for the finish line. A higher stroke rate by Australia kept them ahead of the Netherlands and they crossed the finish line in a very quick time of 5:24.
