Women's Four (W4-) - Final

After an early lead by Australia, the United States walked away with this race and not only won but won by a clear water margin. The US has been a top crew in this boat class for a number of years,  but they missed out on gold at last year’s World Rowing Championships . They are looking to regain the top spot and they took one step towards this today. Luczak, Schmetterling, Regan and Coffey of the United States won over Australia.

Olivia Coffey (stroke) – USA – gold

“We had a really good start when we tried to get ahead of the australians. We tired to push further ahead with every stroke.”

Alexandra Hagan (3) – Australia – silver

“The eight is broken into two fours and the goal is to be in the eight and to qualify it for Rio, to be in the top 5. We are glad to have the chance to see where we are at this point in the season. These are stepping stones on the way to Rio.”

Constanze Siering (3) – Germany – bronze

“We hoped to get a medal in the women’s four so we are satisfied with the result. The start could have been better, but against the final sprint, there is nothing we could have done better. We hope to get a good result at the World Championships, that is our goal for the season. Today we will watch the other races before going home back to training.”
