President Bach learns to row on local waters
President Bach, having already learned to row on the indoor rowing machine, took his first strokes in the tank, an indoor facility used to simulate on-water rowing. He then went on the water in an eight that included Rolland, FISA Sport Director Colleen Orsmond and five athletes from LSA.
“It was great to meet these young athletes and get a chance to row with them,” said President Bach. “Being on the water is a new way to experience Lake Geneva and the surrounding area, which I really enjoyed. I encourage people to get out there and give it a try.”
Rolland was not new to these waters, but was pleased to give President Bach a different feel for the sport. “It is hard to imagine what rowing feels like until you have actually experienced it,” Rolland said. “We are always looking for ways to get more people to try the sport and it was an excellent opportunity here in Lausanne for President Bach to try rowing. We are grateful for the support from LSA which, like many rowing clubs around the world, is an important part of the local community.”
