“That was our second race of the day and quite tough and painful. It was a bit of an experiment as we’ve only been in the boat twice before. We wanted to break free a bit more at the end, but we felt like we still had it under control.”

Lisa Scheenaard (b), Netherlands, silver
“We are a bit disappointed. We should have pushed harder in the last 500m, we wanted gold. But overall the race was pretty ok. We trained together since the national championships two weeks ago, so not so much. But we also raced together last year.”

“To be honest I did not feel very well. I have a painful shoulder after a surgery this winter, but it was not a surprise, we knew about it. We are preparing for the World Championships and I hope we will get better and better before that.”
