Women’s Quadruple Sculls (W4x) – Final

Poland had the best race in the test event two days ago, but today was the race for medals and World Cup points and the slate was clean as well as the weather conditions. Poland got away the quickest  which was no surprise as this crew won at World Rowing Cup I and they are also the Rio Olympic bronze medallists. Today Poland looked all class as they got themselves into an open water lead and remained well ahead of Germany (the Olympic Champions) and with Australia in third.

Australia then pushed ahead of Germany with China now charging though as they tried to get their hands on the bronze medal. But it was Poland (Kobus, Wieliczko, Springwald and Zillmann) that had this race completely wrapped up. China went to 50 strokes per minute in the last 50 metres and they managed to grab the bronze. Australia remained in second place.
