Djibouti starts rowing

The Djiboutian Rowing and Canoeing Kayak Federation invited 26 participants to this course including nine women, most of whom came from canoeing. The practice on water was held at Djibouti city’s sandy Heron Beach during the morning and then theory classes were held in the afternoon at the conference room of Hassan Gouled football stadium.

Djibouti has already received a mixture boats from the World Rowing Federation, FISA, including coastal rowing boats and indoor rowing machines. These were made good use of during the camp.

FISA competitive commission member, Faycal Soula commented; “The Djibouti State Secretariat to Youth and Sports and the National Olympic Committee and Sports spared no effort to make it succeed. They pledged to collaborate and help the National Federation build a National Rowing and Canoeing Centre at Venice Lake in the center of the capital.”
