Calling indoor rowing racers, last chance to enter 2019 championships

This year marks the second time the World Rowing Indoor Championships have been held and racing is open to everyone with a huge mixture of categories. The championship events will be raced over 2000m and already signed up is multiple World Record holder, Olena Buryak of Ukraine. Buryak won the open women’s event in 2018 and she is back to defend her title.

World Games indoor rowing winner, Oliver Zeidler of Germany will be racing and he comes to Long Beach following a successful on-water season. Also headlining is Ukraine’s Anton Bondarenko who took bronze at the World Games in 2017.  Top lightweight men, Jason Osborne of Germany and Martino Goretti of Italy will be racing and the United States national team has confirmed attendance.

The championship events will be raced over the 2000m distance and include para-rowing PR1, PR2 and PR3 for classified athletes, masters age categories from A to M. Also lightweight, junior (under 19), under-23 and open (senior) events.

Non-championship events include all the categories listed above and can be raced over 500m or 1000m as well as relay races. For para-rowers there is a FES category. The event is in conjunction with the USRowing Indoor National Championships and the Beach Sprints.

The Walter Pyramid at Long Beach State University plays host to the championships and a set-up for 64 rowing machines on the floor will be used for racing. There are also 40 rowing machines available for warm-ups.
