Para PR3 Mixed Coxed Four (PR3 Mix4+) – Final
A-Final
On Friday the United States and France won their heats giving them a direct path to the final today. All other crews got here through a Saturday repechage, thus having an extra race under their belt. Today the race was delayed due to technical issues. All boats got off cleanly about five minutes after the scheduled time. The United States was the first to show. Their crew of Reilly, Vogt, Nordin, Hansen and coxswain Petrik had recorded the fastest time in the heats and they mush have been the crew to beat today. But it was Italy that got to the first 500m in the lead. The Italians had to race in the repechage yesterday and maybe it served them well.
Meanwhile Ukraine was getting back into the race following a technical issue. They were a minute down on the rest of the crews but were still going to race the race. Rating 33, the United States then got into the lead with Italy and France moving with them. This was turning into a three-way battle for the medals. The second 1000m would decide on the colour. The United States then started to move away from the rest of the crews and they were looking comfortable coming through to the final sprint. Italy, though, was at 35 and trying to close on the United States. France went to 34 and held on. The United States had won with Italy holding on to silver.
Results: USA, ITA, FRA, GER, NED, UKR
Danielle Hansen (s), United States of America, gold
“It’s great to be here at our first world cup this season and get a medal. I think it’s good momentum going into worlds and we are looking forward to that are racing other crews.”
Greta Muti (s), Italy, silver
“it was a good race. It was our first international race so really happy with our result.”
Antoine Jesel (s), France, bronze
“It was a bit stressful at the start as there was a five-minute delay but we had a good start and tried to keep with the USA and Italy. But Ukraine actually came into our lane and thankfully managed not to disturb us. We tried to overtake Italy but they had too much power for us today.”
