Be active in together ensuring a safe sport environment for all
World Rowing is hosting a series of webinars in March to continue safeguarding efforts – athletes are encouraged to join.
Safeguarding participants in rowing from harassment and abuse continues to be a priority for World Rowing. Awareness and education has always been one of the main pillars to safeguarding. Through workshops and seminars World Rowing has already been spreading the word – building on the Safeguarding webinars which took place in March 2021 (links here and here).
This effort will be bolstered through the upcoming webinars which are not only Covid-safe, but also provide access to participants who might not otherwise have been able to attend.
These two new webinars have been developed specifically for the athlete community, taking place on 7 and 14 March 2022, at 13h30 CET.
- Webinar 1 : “Athlete Rights & Responsibilities with respect to Safeguarding – what you need to know”
- Webinar 2 : “Putting athletes’ rights and responsibilities into action – a toolkit for athletes”
The webinars have a common objective: empower athletes to be aware of their rights, their responsibilities and to have confidence to act, but also raise athletes’ awareness that a safe sport is everyone’s responsibility. In that regard, athletes can contribute to making sport a safer place
The webinars will be moderated by Frida Svensson, 2010 World Rowing Champion and current Chair of the Athletes Commission. There will be a panel discussion including athlete representatives and Safeguarding experts, followed by a question & answer session.
Safeguarding education and awareness raising initiatives – across all rowing communities, across all nations, all cultures – are essential in helping to ensure a safe environment for all.
If you are interested in attending the free webinars, please register using the links provided. Encourage your fellow athletes to register too.
