Uganda Rowing inspires students with the values of Olympism at 2024 Olympic Day
In celebration of the 2024 Olympic Day, Uganda joined the global community through the Uganda Olympic Committee to promote the spirit of Olympism.
Uganda Rowing took center stage at Hormisdallen Nursery and Primary School, where over 3,000 students from the host and surrounding schools participated in various sports disciplines.
The Indoor Rowing segment was led by Coach Batenga Nakisozi, who engaged the children in a dynamic and educational session. She explained the principles of Olympism and the value of sport, delved into the specifics of indoor rowing, and highlighted the purpose of the ergometer. Additionally, she shared insights into rowing at the Olympic Games, captivating the students’ attention.
For five hours, over 200 children enthusiastically tried out indoor rowing and participated in interactive games. The Fish Game, in particular, was a crowd favorite, drawing eager learners who were curious and excited about the new activity.
Looking ahead, Uganda will be proudly represented by Kathleen Noble in the women’s single sculls at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Additionally, Uganda Rowing is planning to host a National Indoor Rowing Championship in November 2024, continuing its mission to inspire and engage the youth in the values of sport and Olympism.
