European Rowing teams will compete in Turkiye for the first time ever, on the occasion of the 2024 European Rowing Under 23 Championships. More than 300 athletes from 26 European member federations are ready to compete in Edirne.

Many of these athletes raced at the World Rowing Under 19 and Under 23 Championships in St. Catharines, Canada, two weeks ago. Here are the rowers to watch, and how to follow the event.

In the men and women’s double sculls, most of the Under 19 and the Under 23 Champions from this year will square off again. On the men’s side, the favourites are Poland’s Jakub Wozniak  and Konrad Domanski, the winners of the gold medal in Canada in the U23 category. Can they be challenged by the U19 champions, Greece’s Konstantinos Giannoulis and Mikolaos Cholopoulos?

The women’s double sculls see also several of the competitors from the Under 19 and Under 23 championships facing each other again. Andrada-Maria Morosanu and Iulia Balauca of Romania, who picked up gold at the Worlds, will be challenged by Switzerland’s Flavia Loetscher, but also the winner of the gold medal in the U19 category, Gavriela Lioliou of Greece.

Another interesting battle will be in the lightweight women’s double sculls, where the Italian combination of Elena Sali and Alice Ramella will try to improve on their silver medal from St Catharines – but will face again Greece’s Dimitra Kontou and Evangelia Anastasiadou who beat them in Canada. Can Kontou add another medal to her incredible summer, after winning bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and gold at the 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships?

In the men’s single sculls, the World Rowing Under 19 Champion, Panagiotis Makrygiannis of Greece, is looking to test his speed versus older athletes. Meanwhile, the women’s single sculls is likely to be a showdown between the reigning World U19 Champion, Bianca Camelia Ifteni of Romania, and the 2023 World U23 Champion, Aurelia-Maxima Janzen of Switzerland.

How to follow the European Rowing Under 23 Championships:
