Some of the best single scullers in the world will compete at this weekend’s SilverSkiff regatta in Turin, Italy. Raced over 11km it’s a true endurance event with twists and turns along the River Po.

Over 700 athletes will be taking part in the SilverSkiff race for single scullers with the KinderSkiff and Vintage SilverSkiff also attracting a large field.

Ther are 20 Countries competing include Switzerland, Croatia, France, Great Britain, and Canada. Not surprisingly, the most entries are coming from the host nation Italy, with former winner – and Olympic medallist Gabriel Soares highlighting the entries this year.

The reigning winner of the SilverSkiff regatta is three-time Olympic Champion, Martin Sinkovic of Croatia. Sinkovic will try to defend his title from last year, along with most members of the Croatian Rowing Team.

The Dutch team will be featuring two Olympic Champions in Koen Metsemakers and Lennart Van Lierop, who won the gold medal in the Men’s Quadruple Sculls in Paris. The Serbian team will send Nikolaj Pimenov and Martin Mackovic, their Olympic double sculls’ combination, while Poland’s Dominik Czaja, a Paris 2024 bronze medallist, will also compete for one of top spots.

Leading the women starters will be Roos de Jong of the Netherlands, who won the competition last year, and is fresh off a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. She will be facing a few international rowers, such as Ivana Jurkovic of Croatia, Valentina Iseppi of Italy, or Wiktoria Kalinowska of Poland.

But the Silverskiff experience extends beyond Sunday’s main event. Saturday offers two additional races:

The Kinderskiff, celebrating its 25th anniversary, provides a platform for aspiring young rowers to test their skills on a shorter course ranging from 1,000 meters to 4 kilometres.

The SilverVintage is a showcase of rowing history, featuring a parade of pre-1992 wooden-oared boats – a nod to the year the Silverskiff was first held.

Masters rowers, a dedicated group representing over 19 nations including the USA, UK, Switzerland, and Greece, are a vital part of the Silverskiff. Their passion and experience add another layer of excitement to the competition.

Catch the action live! All races, including both Saturday’s Kinder and Vintage events and Sunday’s Silverskiff, will be streamed live on the official Silverskiff website (www.silverskiff.org) and the Italian Rowing Federation’s webpage.
