World Rowing Welcomes Confirmation of Para Rowing Programme and Quotas for LA 2028 Paralympic Games
World Rowing welcomes the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board to maintain Para Rowing’s overall athlete quota and to confirm the Para Rowing Events Programme for the LA28 Paralympic Games.
The IPC confirmed that the athlete quota for Para Rowing will be maintained at 104 athletes (the quota does not include coxswains).
Para Rowing will be held at Marine Stadium, and will have five medal events overall – similar to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games: the PR1 Men’s and Women’s single sculls, the PR2 and PR3 Mixed double sculls, and the PR3 Mixed coxed four.
“We welcome the confirmation of the Paralympic Rowing programme and quotas for LA28,” said Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of World Rowing. “This is a strong recognition of the growth and global reach of Para Rowing, and a sign of confidence in the pathway we are building towards LA28 and beyond. We remain committed to developing an inclusive, innovative and athlete-centred sport that continues to inspire on the Paralympic stage.”
World Rowing will continue to work in close partnership with the IPC and LA28 to deliver an exciting and inclusive competition in Los Angeles—one that showcases the athleticism, tradition and modern evolution of Para Rowing to a global audience.
