Welcome back to Trakai!
The tranquil waters of Lake Galvė have hosted several international regattas previously, although this is the first time since 2017. It was the World Rowing Junior Championships it hosted that year, now known as the World Rowing U19 Championships – the event which is about to begin.
Other previous events hosted include the FISU World University Rowing Championships in 2006, the World Rowing Masters Regatta in 2008 and the World Rowing U23 Championships in 2012.
The venue is set in a unique location with Trakai being part of a UNESCO Historical Heritage site. Lake Galvė is a natural lake covering 361 hectares and it has hosted regattas since 1928. In the middle of the lake is an island upon which sits the distinctive Trakai Castle, a 14th century fortress, seen behind the finish line of the regatta course.

In June each year, the venue hosts the Amber Oars International Regatta which welcomes about 500 crews from neighbouring countries.
And so to the 2025 World Rowing U19 Championships where Trakai will welcome 594 athletes from 47 nations. You can follow all of the action here on the World Rowing website. The official hashtags for the event are: #WRU19CHTrakai, #WorldRowingU19Champs
